The Boston Red Sox are American League East Champions for the first time in twelve years.
They also have secured the best record in the majors and will have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
Boston opens its ALDS Wednesday against the Los Angelas Angels of Anaheim in Boston, game time has yet to be announced.
The playoff roster likely wont include any surprises. By best guess it will consist of:
Pitchers
Josh Beckett
Curt Schilling
Daisuke Matsuzaka
Tim Wakefield
Jonathan Papelbon
Eric Gagne
Kyle Snyder
Manny Delcarmen
Javier Lopez
Hideki Okajima
Mike Timlin
Julian Tavarez
Catchers
Jason Varitek
Doug Mirabelli
Infielders
David Ortiz
Dustin Pedroia
Mike Lowell
Julio Lugo
Kevin Youkilis
Alex Cora
Eric Hinske
Outfielders
Manny Ramirez
Coco Crisp
JD Drew
Jacoby Ellsbury
I believe Boston's thinking will be that Ellsbury needs to be on the roster and that Hinkse is more flexible then Kielty adding IF and OF depth, though Boston could choose Kielty to have someone on the bench who can bat righthanded.
