Reports Of Clemens Affair With County Star Surface

Roger Clemens may have more problems on his hands these days.

The New York Daily News reports that Clemens has had a 10-year romance with country singer Mindy McCready.

What could cause Clemens problems here is that the Daily News says the romance began when Clemens was 28, that would be way back in 1990. A quick look of McCreadys bio will then show she was just 15 in 1990.

Clemens' lawyer Rusty Hardin confirms the relationship but denies it was of a sexual nature.

"He flatly denies having had any kind of an inappropriate relationship with her," Hardin said. "He's considered her a close family friend. ... He has never had a sexual relationship with her."

McCready's lawyer, Lee Ofman, said he did not have any comment on the Daily News story.

The Daily News says during the long relationship Clemens would send McCready large sums of money and allow her and her brothers to use of a private plane.

She attended a game at Yankee Stadium on one occasion and the pair have traveled together.

On February 13 of this year while appearing before Congress, Clemens told members his family has been vital to him during his career.

"Anyone who has spent time around me knows that my family is and has always been my top priority," it said in a portion of the opening statement he delivered. "My wife, Debbie, and my sons -- Koby, Kory, Kacy and Kody -- mean more to me than anything in the world."

CNNSI Goes Dream Teaming

CNNSI writer Tom Verducci today picked his All-Time, Current and Futures Dream Teams and a number of Red Sox players are present.

There however are some notable Sox stars missing.

The All Time team is loaded with some of the greatest players to ever step on a field. Babe Ruth, Cy Young, Lefty Grove, Ted Williams and Roger Clemens all make the list.

You really can't argue when it comes to the all time list as most of the best to ever play are represented.

For the complete All-Time roster click here.

All-Current Team
Manny Ramirez is the lone Red Sox player on this list. The list doesn't include a designated hitter which it probably should, thus David Ortiz isn't considered.

All-Futures Team
This is the one where we run into trouble. The name isn't what it seems as all but a handful of players on here are MLB stars already. The basis of the list is to build a team consisting of players who will lead a team for the next five years while being in their prime.

Only Clay Buchholz appears on this list for Boston. That's right, the man who is considered the best reliever in baseball today is absent from the list. Jonathan Papelbon couldn't even be tabbed for a bullpen slot away from closer because it's loaded with starters who couldn't crack to rotation. Los Angeles closer Francisco Rodriguez got the closer nod.

JACKA$$ ROGER CLEMEN$ JOIN$ YANKEE$

For weeks, no months, hell since he did this last season, my friend warned me that Roger Clemens wasn't worth the fuss.

I ignored the warnings, and had faith that Clemens would choose to end it where it all began.

Foolish me!

Seems Roger Clemens is the same money hungry asshole he has always been, and George Steinbrenner is the same money tossing douche he has always been. Together these two losers make a great couple, to the tune of $28 million for a 5-inning pitcher.

Of course Boston very well may get the last laugh at this. The first laugh could come as soon as the first week of June when Clemens could face his former team in his first start of the season.

I hope 2007 is the final season for Roger Clemens. I don't want to even have to live through Boston considering this jackass again in 2008.

Clemens joins a pitching staff that is desperate for help, perhaps thats why he chose New York, it's by far the biggest challenge of the three.

Boston is a far superior team to the Yankee team that has showed up thus far this season, one would think if Clemens care more about winning then about money Boston would have been the choice.

But for Clemens $$ talked, and add in that he gets the same perks as he had in Houston it was a deal he couldn't refuse. A deal he agreed to without even letting Houston or Boston counter, not that either would have approached the absurd $28 million that puts New York back over the $200 million in total payroll.

Have fun in New York Roger, have fun sputtering along with a washedup team. Enjoy watching the playoffs on TV.
